Payments Gateway

£130,000 base + commission (uncapped)

London (hybrid)

This is a senior leadership role within a fast-growing international payments business operating across both standard and high-risk merchant verticals. The business provides gateway and acquiring solutions to merchants in complex, regulated environments and is now seeking an experienced Head of Sales to own revenue growth end-to-end.

You will take full responsibility for sales strategy, execution, and team leadership, with a clear mandate to scale enterprise revenue across sectors such as iGaming, FX/CFD, crypto, and other high-risk verticals, alongside mainstream digital commerce.

This role sits at the centre of the commercial organisation and works closely with executive leadership, product, revenue, risk, and compliance teams.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Sales Strategy & Growth
  • Define and execute a scalable sales strategy aligned to aggressive revenue targets across gateway and acquiring solutions
  • Drive new merchant acquisition and expansion within high-risk and regulated markets
  • Position the business as a trusted long-term payments partner rather than a commoditised provider

Revenue Optimisation
  • Partner with product and revenue teams to maximise yield across blended pricing and IC++ models, including fiat and stablecoin settlement flows
  • Own pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and revenue predictability

Leadership & Team Building
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing sales function
  • Set clear KPIs, structure incentives, and create a performance-led culture
  • Act as player-coach where required on strategic or complex deals

Enterprise Client Management
  • Develop senior-level relationships with enterprise merchants, partners, and platforms
  • Act as a trusted commercial advisor, shaping solutions around risk appetite, compliance constraints, and operational needs


Deal Ownership
  • Lead negotiation and closure of complex, high-value contracts
  • Balance commercial ambition with risk, regulatory, and underwriting considerations

Market & Competitive Insight
  • Track competitor activity, pricing models, and emerging payment trends
  • Translate insight into actionable go-to-market decisions

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with marketing, product, risk, and compliance to ensure sales execution aligns with regulatory and operational realities


What They’re Looking For
  • 7+ years’ experience in senior sales leadership within payments, fintech platforms, or merchant acquiring
  • Demonstrable success selling into high-risk verticals (e.g. iGaming, FX, crypto, adult, or emerging markets)
  • Deep knowledge of:
    • Payment gateways and merchant acquiring
    • MoR models
    • Chargebacks, fraud, and risk mitigation
    • Cards and APMs across international markets
    • Proven ability to build and scale sales teams
    • Strong commercial judgement with data-led decision making
    • Confident operating at board and C-suite level
    • Comfortable with international travel as required
