Harrington Starr are seeking a Cyber Security Specialist with a strong understanding of Cryptocurrency/ Blockchain/ Digital Asset environments for one our prestigious financial services clients. The role will sit within the cyber security function and will offer both technical and business facing SME knowledge reporting straight in to the Head of Information Security/ CISO.
The Cryptocurrency Security Specialist is responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining security controls for cryptocurrency-related products. This role works closely with teams across Business, Operations, and IT to ensure the organisation’s cryptocurrency exposure remains within its risk tolerance. The specialist will support the enhancement of security initiatives and take ownership of escalated incidents, configuration changes, and security-related improvements.
The ideal candidate is a builder with practical experience in cryptocurrencies and associated control frameworks, capable of identifying security gaps, designing solutions, and strengthening the security of infrastructure, systems, and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide security oversight and expert guidance on cryptocurrency-related projects and initiatives.
- Conduct security assessments and perform threat modelling on cryptocurrency assets and products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement effective risk-mitigation controls.
- Continuously monitor control performance, investigate alerts, and ensure ongoing control effectiveness.
- Apply cybersecurity practices, methodologies, and tools consistently across the organisation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Practical, hands-on experience with cryptocurrencies and related technologies.
- Experience designing, implementing, or managing cryptocurrency security controls.
- Background in financial services with involvement in cryptocurrency or digital-asset initiatives.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Solid understanding of security best practices and control frameworks.
