Systems Engineer - Linux - Puppet - Python - Financial Services - £500/600 per day INSIDE IR35 - 6 Month contract

This is an opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join a prestigious Hedge Fund group at the heart of London. This Systems Engineer will be responsible for a server upgrade project around an older application and also helping set up and be part of basic build for a new development app.

    • Nagios administration

What you will do

  • Provision and manage physical and virtual Linux servers, both on-premises and in EC2
  • Investigate and resolve hardware and software issues, liaising with third parties where necessary
  • Assist developers with application architecture, AWS hosted infrastructure, automation and CI/CD
  • Manage AWS infrastructure via Terraform
  • Install, configure and manage of a number of mostly developer-facing applications such as GitLab, Nexus and Graylog
  • Be involved with ongoing patching of Linux operating systems, applications and appliances
  • Involvement in hardware refresh cycles
  • Monitoring and capacity planning

What you will need

  • Experience with the below technologies is a must:
    • RHEL system administration and patching
    • Unix shell scripting and automation - Strong Python scripting skills
    • Experience with tools such as Puppet and Terraform
    • Good working knowledge of core AWS services
    • Good general networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, SFTP, NTP, iSCSI etc
    • Nagios administration
    • NetApp administration
    • Veritas NetBackup
    • IBM WebSphere MQ
