The North Starr, part of the Harrington Starr recruitment group are looking to place a seasoned SQL Server Developer who is ready for a new permanent career challenge. This role will combine the elements of best practice Datawarehousing with new greenfield project implementations. This opportunity will see the successful post-holder further their career in the world of Financial Services and see the Developer transition into more of a Technical Architect.
Based in the heart of the Square Mile, you will be joining a team of Developers that understand how to get the very best out of their system yet strive to push the technical boundaries for maximum client benefit.
You will be coming into the team at grass roots level to assist with the design & build of a new reporting solution with data sourced from a variety of processing platforms.
From day one, you will be encouraged to bring new ideas to the table and work in deep collaboration with your co-workers, thus helping to create a hotbed of technical innovation and progression within the department.
Some of the key responsibilities for this SQL Server Developer will include the following tasks.
Work collaboratively within a global team spanning 4 continents.
Sit in on daily meetings between London and New York.
Help to provide hands‐on development using SQL Server 2012/2014
Work with project managers, business analysts and development lead to assist in the build of a strategic reporting solution.
Develop, test, and integrate code for existing data warehouse development in compliance with client wide data management principles and security controls.
Help to document data integration strategies for data flows between disparate source/target systems for data warehouse
Assist with and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards
To qualify for this SQL Server Developer role we will require the individual to possess the following skill set.
Approx. 6 years hands on development experience in SQL Server 2012/ 2014 SSIS development, scripting development, performance tuning etc.
Strong commercial experience in SQL Server 2012/ 2014 database development such as SQL, XML, function, procedure & query optimization
Strong experience working in large, complex Data Warehouse environment plus solid exposure to ETL & DW methodology.
Strong understanding of MSBI stack & future roadmap.
Understanding of Enterprise Data Management & governance design approach.
Strong SDLC knowledge
Advanced data modelling & dimensional modelling techniques
Experience in Reg Reporting is advantageous.
Be able to work in a fast paced Agile environment..
Some experience of working within the FS industry is useful.
Looking to make the transition from Developer to Architect
Have experience of working with stakeholders in different time zones and work with off shore teams.
