Reference Data Analyst / Product Manager

Harrington Starr are working with a leading provider of trading technology.  My client is looking to hire for a technical Reference Data / market data engineer to join their team.

The role will be a green field position to take ownership of reference data aspect of the software offering.  This would be a hybrid product and engineering role and will include the following:

  • Business ownership of reference data delivery to end user applications
  • Change management of reference data including:
  • Communication of change impacts to business lines and development and support teams
  • Full cycle project management for active reference data related issues and improvements
  • Manage scripts, SQL queries and other tools to conduct ad-hoc analysis and run automated tests to ensure quality delivery of data
  • Ownership and management of escalated reference data related issues originated by the support teams
  • Documentation mapping usage of reference data fields to specific functions in the platform
  • Making data-driven recommendations to management on all aspects of the reference data offering including vendor selection, quality assurance processes, tools and resourcing
  • Managing product master coverage and ensuring proper compliance for various symbology formats such as ISIN, CUSIP, SEDOL, RIC, Bloomberg codes, and others as needed
  • Expanding coverage for global markets across all asset classes

To be considered for the role, you should have skills and experience in the following:

  • In depth knowledge of market data concepts with an emphasis on reference data
  • Understanding of the different delivery models for processing reference data
  • Experience with modeling new instruments and asset classes
  • Knowledge of relational databases and ability to write SQL queries and scripts
  • Experience with project management in a global environment using agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional ownership of issues; highly organized with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
