A global data analytics firm that produces regulatory data and operational insight to the financial community is seeking a new PostgreSQL DBA. This growing and innovative analytic firm allow for optimisation of data and have signed up a phenomenal amount of companies in the buy side community allowing for further growth in their small UK office based in the City of London.

This will see you join their team to assist in the migration and improvement of the database infrastructure for their expanding affiliate base of world class hedge funds, investment banks, insurance and asset managers.

As a PostgreSQL DBA you will work to improve their current software components, performance, design and scalability in where it can grow for client integration purposes. To do this you will need to have solid experience working with Oracle databases at a high level and be used to 24/7 support of a production database, performance monitoring, other DBA tasks and support.

A very large part of this role will involve you speaking directly with different technology teams within the firm and your ability to communicate effectively is very important. You do not have to come from a financial services background or Insurance background as they are much more interested in strong technologists with excellent communication skills who can learn the specific asset classes involved within the analytics. The key is to be passionate about data driven technology.

As an PostgreSQL DBA you will require the following skill set:

  • Experience working as a PostgreSQL DBA (essential)
  • Oracle 10g, 11g (essential)
  • Understanding of database or design principles (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills from technology to business (essential)
  • PL/SQL (essential)
  • Back up and recovery (essential)
  • ASM or OEM (desirable)
  • Passion for data (essential)
  • Ability to work autonomously and take control (essential)
