Network Performance Engineer (Chicago)

My client, a top hedge fund, is hiring for a Network Performance Engineer to join their team in Chicago. The role focuses on improving the network infrastructure used for their financial trading with a focus on reducing complexity and improving performance.

In this role you will ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of network infrastructure and related applications, improve automation, test for scale and improve disaster readiness, help manage risk, forecast demand and plan for capacity, monitor, configure, and troubleshoot routing, switching, and multicast, commission and decommission infrastructure, support production network infrastructure, and participate in incident response, postmortem and root-cause analysis.

Candidates must have at least 4 years’ experience as a Network Operator or Engineer with experience maintaining large scale networks, a deep understanding of LAN, WAN, and Linux networking, proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible or Ninja, experience in a multi-vendor environment (Cisco, Arista, F5), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Telecommunications Engineering.

Experience with Virtual Networking such as VMware NSX, certifications such as CCIE or CCNP, an understanding of Linux OS, experience building and managing highly reliable large scale systems, and experience in the financial trading industry is highly advantageous.
