The North Starr, part of the Harrington Starr recruitment group are looking to hire a Lead Software Engineer who is ready to embark on a new career path. This role will see the post holder combine their talents of best practice Software Engineering with leading software development products across a microservice architecture.

Based near to Notting Hill this award winning start-up require their Lead Software Engineer to come in with fresh ideas yet embrace the culture that is already in place. The variety of teams work in tandem to maintain the website, apps, customer storefront as well as the internal tooling, warehousing and logistics. You will also be working very closely with the data science team that works to personalise the customer experience and help to optimise warehouse routing and much more.
The core responsibilities for this Lead Software Engineering are as follows:
- Work with the Web Engineering Manager to deliver the roadmap across both functional and technical improvements
- Help provide hands-on coding on a daily basis, pairing with others to help develop your squad.
- Ensuring all code owned by the tribe meets the agreed quality levels; when deadlines are tight ensuring technical debt is cleared up appropriately
- Constantly seeking out ways to improve the platform and the way the team operates; ensuring these ways are implemented into the squad and sharing best practice with other units.
- Although direct line management is not required for this role, this can be something to work towards if you are passionate about career development and coaching.
The successful Lead Software Engineer will need to possess the following skills to qualify for an initial tech test:
Exposure to microservice architecture highly desirable, AWS, React using cssnext & CSS modules.
A passion for delivering quality code which is secure and performant whilst delivering to tight deadlines
The ability to technically lead full stack teams creating a culture of engineering excellence; passionate about engineering practices such as TDD and pair programming
Must have a passion for working in a full stack, multi team environment.
Experience of working collaboratively across product, design, test and business teams, influencing a diverse set of stakeholders
Must be highly motivated and a self-starter, someone who is constantly striving to improve themselves and others
