North Starr have partnered with a really exciting start-up business whose purpose surrounds making semantic applications accessible to the wider community and using open source technology to create a ‘bottom up’ business model. As a Lead Engineer you will be excited about working with semantic technology, graph analytics, distributed systems and machine learning (KR). You will have knowledge of web ontology such as OWL, RDF and SPARQL, and have full stack development experience, ideally Java.

As a Lead Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing the complete development of our clients’ technology and launching an open-source platform that is built for developers. You will be a strong communicator and be able to lead whiteboard sessions with other developers in the team. You will find technology a passion of yours and enjoy the challenge of solving problems. You will be looking to move away from structured environments and work in a highly collaborative environment and accept that pipelines and deadlines move.

As a Lead Engineer you will be passionate about building leading technology and help to coach and mentor more junior staff.

To be considered for the role of Lead Engineer, (Semantic, Java, graph analytics, Agile, start-up, machine learning, distributed systems, knowledge representation, KR, OWL, RDF, SPARQL, Ontology) experience in the following is essential:

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science or Research background
  • Experience with semantic search, machine learning, knowledge representation (KR), OWL, RDF, SPARQL
  • Passionate about distributed systems and graph analytics
  • Experience with large scale software architecture design
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead and coach staff
