Lead DevOps Engineer

Harrington Starr is currently working with a leading organisation.

Our client, is looking to hire a Lead DevOps Engineer who has excellent knowledge and expereince of the Azure platform as a service.

This role is for an experienced DevOps and Technical Architecture and Design practitioner with an excellent
understanding of the Azure (Resource Manager) Platform as a Service, Windows/Linux administration and some
exposure to Docker/ Container Orchestration. The successful candidate will work on a greenfield project.

The successful candidate will:
• be part of a small project team working alongside other developers and business analysts
• help develop the DevOps environment and culture to sit alongside corporate IT infrastructure support
• provide input to technical design discussions and decisions
• work with internal and external teams in the development, deployment and administration of multiple
Azure environments
• be primarily responsible within the team to configure and administer Azure, Windows Server 2012 and
Linux (RHEL 7.3) environments, including relevant scripting where required
• interpret business requirements to identify optimal development solutions
• work in an agile fashion and write robust, structured and well tested code
• communicate activity status and risk analysis on weekly basis
• work with external vendors on an integrated solution, helping define the architecture and principal design
decisions and options

Desired Skills and Experience:
• Have worked in a DevOps environment, preferably helping develop and build the structure and
operational practices within the team
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS
• Technical Design / Architecture Experience (inc. Cloud Infrastructure, Application Architecture)
• Good Linux (RHEL 7.3) Administration
• Basic Windows Server 2012 Administration
• Exposure to Scripting (Bash, PowerShell)
• Excellent knowledge of Container Orchestration (Swarm or Kubernertes)
• Have used or exposure to Docker EE (DTR, UCP)
• Understanding of IIS Server
• Good knowledge of Websockets / Node JS / React Solution Architecture
• Experience of Designing for Highly Availability / Disaster Recovery business critical systems
• Integration Design / JSON RPC
• SQL and database knowledge, preferably on SQL Server.
• Experience of working in a Trading environment with an understanding of general trading terminology
and pricing theory (in any asset class); familiar with trading concepts such as futures contracts, forward
curves, pricing and FX
• Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a small, agile development team
