The North Starr, part of the Harrington Starr recruitment group are looking to place an experienced IT Technology Director.
This role will see the post holder combine the elements of best practice IT Management/Directorship with operational/ technical & staff motivation leadership.
Please note this role will be of interest to IT Managers looking to make the step up into a Technology Director role or an IT Director already in this type of post.
We require this IT Technical Director to cover sites between Northampton surrounding area & London, it will be beneficial to be able to commute to the Northampton/Bedford borders via own transport
It is important that the post holder understands that there will be some degree of hands on 'roll your sleeves up' work, yet be able to drive continuous process improvements & coach junior team members to hit their true technical potential.
The core responsibilities for this IT Technical Director role will be as follows.
Coordinate the delivery of a new IT Strategy and be able to execute change.
Be involved in project initiation, set up and management of internal project work
Lead the multi-disciplinary IT teams, including external partners, in the delivery of a new IT strategy.
Help control all commercial related finance issues around IT budgeting and IT forecasting
Assist with the set up & management of the project team to include BAU resource & IT Development
Manage the change control procedure & ensure the project deliverables are completed to cost, timescale & budget
Be able to recommend new outsourcing IT Projects to Senior Stakeholders and board members.
Hands on work to develop website & company portals
Hands on technical work plan and implement disaster recovery & business continuity plan
Lead the Infrastructure & development technical teams so that tested solutions are rolled up effectively across the business.
To qualify for this IT Technical Director role we require the following skill set.
Must have recent commercial experience to minimum level of Senior IT Manager or IT Director status.
Ideal candidates will have run small to medium size IT teams ranging from 7 to 20 IT staff approx.
Will ideally have some experience of project management
Must have experience of working in a recent 'hands-on' capacity
SDLC exposure and excellent IT Software awareness.
Broad understanding of various transformation programmes ranging from Cloud/ Network upgrades
Have worked on Website & IT application projects as part of the wider portfolio or have broad knowledge
Can produce evidence of all aspects of commercial budgeting & forecasting of projects, varying levels of cost.
For infrastructure, a background in desktop/network & hardware support + Office 365, AD
For development, a background in SQL Server >2016, Excel, VBA, SSRS & SSIS
Other areas to include IT Security, Bespoke Applications & Web applications
Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities, building small yet effective IT team & a critical thinker.
