Opportunity for a well-rounded Infrastructure Engineer with the drive to make the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will have a self-starter attitude, the will to succeed and the want to improve with every task that they do.
You will be joining the Wintel team within the core infrastructure department at a world leading hedge fund. The team is responsible for the management of the global core infrastructure with a primary focus on the Windows server estate, VMWare virtualisation platform and Cloud platforms.
They perform day to day support and administration of each of these technologies as well as owning the architecture and design of this element of the Infrastructure.
Specific responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of the role include:
3rd line support of Microsoft and VMWare Technologies
Administration of HPE server estate, Microsoft estate and associated technologies.
Maintaining a consistently high level of service delivery for incidents, requests and changes.
Providing flexible self-service options to our internal customers
Administration of Mans Azure tenant.
Providing support and advice to other Infrastructure teams as well as developers and end users.
Working with 3rd parties and suppliers to select and implement new technologies.
Essential Experience
Exceptional troubleshooting skills
Self-starter attitude
The ability to think on your feet and keep calm under pressure
Demonstrable understanding of how an enterprise infrastructure functions
Understanding of how Microsoft technologies scale in a large environment
Deep understanding of virtualisation technologies with at least 1 year hands on experience with either VMWare vSphere 6+ or Hyper-V.
A great understanding Microsoft core infrastructure technologies: Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory and supporting services (DNS,ADFS, AzureAD etc)
Understanding of how source control and continues deployments workflows work.
Strong background scripting in Powershell/PowerCLI
Strong understanding of Desired State Configuration
Understanding of cloud technologies and how they can be beneficial to large organisations
Knowledge of the ITIL management framework and an understanding of how to apply this correctly in an agile organisation.
The ability to prioritise projects, tasks and resources to deliver good results across the team.
Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organisation.
