ICT Technician

Job summary
? To assist the IT Service Manager in the efficient operation of the School’s ICT systems.
Principal Accountabilities
? The duties outlined in this job description are in addition to those covered by the Local Government Terms and Conditions Document. It may be modified by the Headteacher, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title
Key Roles:
1. To assist in the maintenance of the school’s ICT networks.
2. To assist in the installation of new and existing software across the network.
3. To provide technical support for all users, curriculum and administrative.
Key Tasks:
To assist in the maintenance of the school’s ICT networks
? To provide hardware and software support for workstation PCs and laptops; printers, photocopiers, telephones, CCTV etc
? To maintain all peripherals within the school;
? To be responsible for ordering and maintaining stocks of all consumables, and placing other orders as requested
? To perform scheduled checks on IT Suites, Laptop trolleys and copiers.
? To liaise with external suppliers/support agencies for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance contract or to resolve faults speedily;
? To ensure that
? To update and maintain the Asset Register – update, actions including asset tagging, and machine name labels;
? To ensure all ICT working practices adhere to Health and Safety requirements.
To assist in the installation of new and existing software across the network
? To install new and existing software on existing PCs/laptops;
? To perform complete installations on new PCs/laptops;
? To install, configure and maintain anti-virus software across the network.
To provide technical support for all users, curriculum and admin.
? To administer e-mail and user groups and accounts within the school and 3rd party applications/websites;
? To configure and maintain all software applications for consistent use;
? To provide support to users in the use of the school’s Management Information System;
? To administer the web filtering system;
? To provide technical support for the school’s AV equipment including maintenance and documentation of projector stock, and interactive whiteboards, lamp replacements.
? To ensure that electronic devices are setup for assemblies and whole school events as required.
General:
? To assist the IT Service Manager as required
? Any other duty that may be reasonably required
