About the Role

Data is part of our clients DNA. They believe that data is the voice of their customers and, therefore, it is an integral part of all departments. To ensure they live up to this statement, the team are a highly skilled department of analysts embedded within the core business functions, e.g Marketing, Operations and Digital Product. Their roles are a pivotal part of the data driven culture and we want you - the Head of Analytics - to lead them.

 

Over the last 5 years, they have built up the Data Warehouse to track a vast amount of data from variety sources - from interactions on the website using Snowplow

They're using ETL processes (Airflow) to model the unstructured website events data and they've built another tool which allows them to send scheduled, custom built trading emails to anyone in the business. All these systems are at your disposal, they want you to guide and teach the team how to leverage them in the best way to deliver high quality, scalable, insight and analytics that can drive decision making across the business.

Responsibilities

Team:

One of your main responsibilities will be making sure that you, and your team of data Analysts, deliver high quality insight and analysis which helps the business understand performance and drives decisions which materially improve our KPIs. You’ll do this by ensuring the team prioritises the most value adding initiatives and making sure analytics work is both visible and used.

 

Your prior experience can coach and develop their analytical techniques, data interpretation and technical skills - we want this knowledge to spread further than your team so running workshops with other teams is encouraged. As the business grows, you'll need to spot gaps and scale the team accordingly.

 

Tools:

Part of your role will be keeping the business at the forefront of digital skills by ensuring they are using the best / most fitting technologies. The reporting tools they currently use are periscope and indicative, you'll need to evaluate how effective these tools will be in the future and ensure they are building a scalable reporting system.

 

The analytics team owns these reporting tools so it's your responsibility to ensure they're accessible, reliable, insightful and easily navigable as well as consistently complying with GDPR and PII regulations

 

Analytics:

There will be a wide variety of analytics required that support all areas of the business. Including operations, marketing, product, investor relations and data modelling. Queries will range from helping the operations team understand in live time, flagging any issues along the way, to helping the marketing team understand the quality of customers coming in from each channel and actions we can take to improve this.

 

You'll inform, influence, support and drive the clients product decisions and product launches. Work with stakeholders to identify potential benefits and bias for consideration when AB testing, and to define acceptance criteria for results. You'll leverage your technical SQL skills to model the unstructured website data, and, your understanding of user behaviors, and long-term trends to identify levers that help move key metrics.

 

REQUIREMENTS

About you

  • Influential – You drive change by openly challenging processes and recommending solutions.
  • 5-10 years experience in the field of Data Analytics, Digital Analytics, or Business Intelligence
  • Experience of leading and coaching a team
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, data driven environment where your work has driven both insight and actions
  • Exceptional SQL skills
  • Knowledge of other coding languages such as python/R is beneficial
  • Strong excel skills
  • Experience with ETL and queries optimisation

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Maths, Physics, Engineering, Statistics or other technical field
  • Experience with Git
