Graduate Support Engineer - Remote Working - Linux / Networking

Harrington Starr are working in collaboration with a global FinTech who are seeking a Graduate Support Engineer who has a passion for Technology to join their infrastructure team.

This Graduate Support Engineer will be instrumental in working within the organisations engineering group. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving client application issues, reacting to an internal alert system which actively monitors 1,000+ linux (CentOS) servers which are running low latency market data applications. Support work also entails capacity management of server and network hardware, regular meetings with high profile clients to review their service and any recent issues as well as troubleshooting discussions with 3rd parties such as network carriers and exchanges.

Essential Knowledge needed:

  • Good use of both spoken and written English
  • Strong analytical and systematic problem solving skills
  • Strong customer focus
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure of time
  • Ability to handle multiple maintenance projects and work to strict maintenance windows
  • Can-do attitude

Desirable Knowledge:

  • International financial markets and financial market data
  • Real-time systems
  • Linux command line tools
  • Networking protocols (TCP, UDP, multicast, CISCO technologies etc.)
  • Real-time systems

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Support Engineer who is keen to develop within an organisation to be innovative and influence within an estabilshed FinTech firm based in Cambridge. However currently the company is working from home for the foreseeable future.
