North Starr have begun working with a client that is operating within the bespoke, luxury travel sector. Their website and systems are an extension of the luxury brand they are looking to put forward to their consumers and coming into the business, you will need to be able to portray those ideals in the programming you create and support.

This business is about to rebuild and restructure a significant section of code. They are soon to start the planning phase of what this will entail so anyone starting would be heavily involved in the planning, road-mapping and strategy of deployment.

  • Broaden the capability, stability and performance of the platform itself
  • Developing Automation tools to improve repeatability of processes
  • Define reliability metrics
  • Improve reliability, scalability, and tooling
  • Support the team in identifying issues with code/deliverables
  • Be the internal authority for all things AWS

Desired Skillset

  • Strong knowledge and commercial use of AWS including - EC2, RDS, VPC, AutoScaling, Load Balancing
  • Experience with Jenkins or Bamboo for deployment
  • Good use of automation tools, ideally Ansible but Puppet, Chef or Saltstack would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of containerisation tech to allow you to be part of one of the key goals for 2019. Ideal would be Kubernetes, but use of Nomad, Dockerswarm or equivalent would help
  • Experience of working in a Microservices Architecture

Additional knowledge

  • Scripting knowledge of Python, Bash or Perl
  • Knowledge of Nginx, HAProxy and Varnish
  • A real want to impart your knowledge to the next generation of programmers, as mentoring and the sharing of knowledge is very important to the business
