The North Starr, part of the Harrington Starr recruitment group are looking to source a Data Engineer who is actively looking for a new permanent career challenge. This role will see the post holder combine their talents of data intelligence, systems integrations with Microsoft SQL Server & PowerBI technology.

Based in the bustling and lively area of Bond St, London, you will be joining a highly niche technical department where work collaboration & autonomy are all part of the team ethos.

This role will see the post holder gain valuable experience in the Investment Banking world and there is no experience necessary if you have sound technical knowledge.

The core responsibilities of this role are as follows:

Working with the core development team for both BAU & greenfield Project initiatives around data intelligence.

As part of the wider team help to build out frameworks to connect systems & data to drive corporate initiatives.

Under the guidance of the Programme Manager your projects will span across a number of business lines concerning real-time trades & positions etc.

The core technical skills to secure an interview for this role are as follows:

Either degree 'OR' 3 + years' commercial experience will be considered for this role.

Experience of distributing data using messaging (e.g. RabbitMQ) and processing frameworks (e.g. Apache SPARK)

Must have worked in Big data and traditional SQL environments

Experience of tools such as PowerBI highly advantageous.

Commercial experience of cloud platforms, Amazon AWS, MS Azure etc

Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server & PowerBI

Understanding of SQL - Messaging and processing frameworks (e.g. Apache SPARK, RabbitMQ or similar)

Awareness of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Hadoop etc.

Any exposure to programming language such as Python etc will be highly advantageous.

Must be interested to work within the Investment world, no previous experience required.
