The North Starr technical recruitment business is currently looking to hire an Application Support Developer. This role will see the post holder combine the talents of both IT Application support & leading software development technologies. Our client will be interested to speak with Developers at a range of levels so please make contact with us if you range from junior to mid-level skill level.

Based in Brighton you will be treated to a fast past, ever changing technical environment, working with a group of highly motivated IT professionals all looking to make a positive difference to the technical environment.

If you are coming in at a slightly junior level then you will have the team support to enhance your career & technical skillset at your own pace. Should you be at the mid-level range then you will have the ability to express new ideas, work fairly autonomously and collaborate with the senior IT Management to improve and enhance the technical processes.

The core responsibilities for this role will include the following:

On occasion assist with the training of junior colleagues on a variety of technologies.

As part of the wider team help to resolve IT Incidents that have a direct impact against SLAs in a timely manner and escalating where appropriate.

Work on different systems, and issues, beyond your own expertise whilst maintaining quality of service at all times.

On a daily basis work on root cause analysis and resolution for re-occurring Incidents and make long term recommendations and fixes.

Complete IT Requests in an effective manner, by understanding the business requirement, outcome and suitable technical solutions.

Recommend opportunities to IT management to improve the overall IT strategy across the group.

Introduce new IT systems into the production services function and act as the interface between IT services & the vendors; where appropriate, work with the change projects and programmes

Team to implement new processes.

Deliver timely and appropriate communication to stakeholders and internal customers, providing acknowledgement and effective updates.

Work in partnership with in-sourced and outsourced IT service providers.

The successful Application Support Developer will have the following technical background in order to qualify for an initial phone interview.

Highly motivated IT professional with a thirst for providing a high quality technical service.

Graduate level ideally within either Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Science.

Broad knowledge of development based technologies.

Dependant of either junior or mid-level skills range, knowledge in any of the following technologies from an Application Support stand point:

Azure, SOAP/REST, C#, MVC, ASP.NET Web Forms, SQL, JQuery, JavaScript, HTML & CSS

Strong in PL/SQL, writing performant queries, and Oracle Reports

Commercial exposure to T-SQL, able to performance tune queries, and knowledge in at least 2 of the following: SSAS, SSRS, SSIS.

Must be a strong team player, highly motivated and have the ability to liaise & communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
