We are partnered with a top US trading firm who are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their team in Chicago. They are a cutting-edge trading firm focused on market-making using proprietary low-latency technology and data-driven strategies.
The Data Engineering team plays a foundational role in building and maintaining systems that power the firm’s data infrastructure across the company, including trading and research.
This will be a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days a week office attendance in downtown Chicago.
What will you be doing?

The Data Engineering team plays a foundational role in building and maintaining systems that power the firm’s data infrastructure across the company, including trading and research.

What will you be doing?
- Architect and scale the data platform to support real-time and batch processing for analytics and trading.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Traders, Quants, and Engineers to build impactful, high-performance data pipelines.
- Use technologies like Kubernetes (EKS), Kafka (MSK), Databricks/Spark, and Delta Lake in a hybrid-cloud environment.
- Implement SLAs and validation for data quality, availability, and accuracy.
- Write clean, tested, and documented code with a strong emphasis on mentoring and leadership.
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Strong in Java/Scala (Python a plus)
- Hands-on with AWS, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, and modern data platforms (e.g., Delta Lake, Trino)
- Skilled in building scalable batch/streaming systems
- Financial data experience helpful but not required
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or equivalent technical field
