With Q1 2018 done and dusted for the Harrington Starr Contracts desk, and what a start it’s been, I wanted to provide a little update on why it has been so good for us. Firstly, we have welcomed two new recruits to our desk, George Harris and George Bean, two top consultants from the industry. George B starts imminently but for George Harris, what an introduction! He picked up his first bit of business in his first week and already sitting on two deals. Very impressive, well done George.
Secondly, Q1 has seen 27% growth on jobs registered against the same quarter last year and we have picked up a record number of Contract roles within Development (C# and Java) and in the Project Change space. Why have we seen this growth when everyone has been talking about Brexit and leaving the country? I’ve never seen a job market so buoyant. Clients have ramped up their projects and are looking to invest into newer technologies. Most of the projects we have taken on are based on migration and upgrade projects (if you do either please contact me). We have also seen several new Data Scientist and Data Analyst roles coming into the market. Clients are interested in how they are currently using their tech stack, what they are wasting and what they can improve on, so this has also driven a record number of roles within that space. Technologies such as Kafka and Scala have also been the star of the first Quarter. We picked up seven new Kafka roles and nine new Scala Developer roles. AWS and Cloud Architects roles have also seen continued growth this quarter.
If you are looking for a new role and would like to work with an agency that offers roles within Financial Services technology, I would highly recommend that you call me. I am predicting Q2 to be a busy one and the right skillset can garner a really attractive rate and some incredible projects to work on. If you are a Developer in any programming language, a Business Analyst or Project Manager get in touch today.
